We had 13 students compete in the final round of TMEA All State choir auditions and are thrilled to have five new All Staters and one first alternate. Congratulations to all students who competed and gave it their all in this strange and difficult year. We are so proud of you! @AllStateSinger #txallstatechoir2021

We had 33 students compete in the second round of All State choir auditions and 11 will be competing at the next level, with three first chairs and six additional alternates. It was a joy hearing all of the beautiful singing! Congrats to all 🏆

As usual, we find mock auditions to be a helpful component of our area workshops, so a virtual mock audition is included. Zoom lessons in the time of Covid. Most of us are working from home but I wonder how many houses have two adults trying to simultaneously teach online lessons? We set up a second studio with a keyboard in our son’s playroom! There is much more tech involved, a much shorter commute, but whatever it takes, we love to see your faces and hear your voices! #TXAllStateChoir2021

You asked! We listened! We have added a SOPRANO summer sectional after their session filled up. Now there will be a 10 AM session in addition to the 2:30 PM session on July 21. We are loving the look of this group of LSC All State Choir conductors! ❤️👸🏼🎼 ⭐️ 💃 🎶 Dr. Amanda Quist (Mixed Choir) “is the Director of Choral Activities for the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Dr. Quist was previously Chair of the Conducting, Organ, and Sacred Music Department, and Associate Professor of Conducting at Westminster Choir College.” Dr. Shawna Stewart (Treble Choir) “is the Director of Choral Studies at Biola University in La Mirada, CA where she conducts the Biola University Chorale and the Vocal Jazz Ensemble.” Dr. Deanna Joseph (Tenor-Bass Choir) “is Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at the Georgia State University School of Music where she conducts the University Singers and leads the master’s program in choral conducting.”
